Married to the Mob (1988) Jonathan Demme directed this Romantic comedy about a mob wife, Angela del Marco [Michelle Pfeiffer] who tries to start a new life after her husband’s murder. The FBI Agent, Mike Smith/Downey [Matthew Modine] wires her apartment up and then falls in love with her. However, the great Mercedes Ruehl as Connie, the Don’s jealous wife, fills the best role in this hilarious movie, with a terrific supporting cast and charming end credits.
Aeneas could recognize beauty
By the way she walked, so elegantly.
Those who live by beauty alone
Should sign a contract before they’re born.
From five years old, in her fortress tower,
She ruled, a model model forever.
Raised in staunch state-run atheism,
She hid her Catholic baptism.
Who knows who was above the law —
Just being a woman made you an outlaw.
But that was back then, in old Slovenia
With its Castle and secret Mafia.
Pop photo shoots made her fashionable
And a respectable professional.
She gave her eyelids a forbidding stare,
Sold HSN jewelry and skin care,
And then, for special luxury prices,
Sweet chocolate-coated apple slices.
She rose above herself through chic trademarks
That kept her running with the oligarchs.
“Be best” is each entrepreneur’s goal.
Her son’s a Baron now she’s in control.
